Most babies, at one time or another, will get diaper or nappy rash. The rash appears in the diaper area and often the cause is dirty or wet diapers. This common skin disorder is upsetting, as nobody wants his or her child to suffer any kind of discomfort. Diaper rash is a skin inflammation, often effectively treated at home, that needs watching carefully. If you ever start to question ‘how serious is bleeding from diaper rash?’ then it is definitely time to contact your baby’s physician. The doctor will check your little one over; prescribe medication to make the baby more comfortable and clear up the nappy rash. You certainly do not want the diaper rash to get to this point. Watching for telltale signs and then taking immediate action, is the best course to follow.

One way to help prevent diaper rash is to change your baby’s diaper immediately after he or she wets or soils their diaper. Keep your baby clean and dry and check the diaper often, so the little one does not end up wearing or sleeping in a soiled diaper. How serious is bleeding from diaper rash is a question that doctors hear occasionally. It can be very serious but it is preventable by dealing with the diaper rash long before it comes to this point.

Here are a few tips on addressing diaper rash, but always check with your baby’s physician first before trying them:
  • Let your baby’s bottom air dry, by removing the diaper as this often helps clear up diaper rash
  • Use only warm water and cloth wipes to clean your little one. Stay away from commercial baby wipes or harsh soaps as they may contain
  • chemicals or perfumes. For messy changes, try very mild baby soap for sensitive skin.
  • Launder baby items using a natural detergent or one made specifically for babies and always rinse everything twice.
  • Along with changing your baby more frequently, try a different brand or type of diaper.
  • Try diaper rash creams that use natural ingredients.
  • Talk to your baby’s doctor.
